Our bride for this weekend, Christine Muthaa, is from Kenya and she has agreed to allow me to post about the traditional ceremony in her home country. It is called a Ruracio, specifically from the Kikuyu tribe, where the groom and his family negotiate a dowry payment to the family of the bride. In their case, they combined the negotiations of the dowry with the meeting of the families and had a big celebration. In the eyes of the village, once the negotiations are complete, the couple is seen as married. She shared the photo of the two of them in Kenya for this tribal tradition. The groom is Ryan Kelley and Saturday's wedding will be the American wedding for this couple.
